Maddox's first name was chosen to honor Maddox Bay - Amy's family's second home for generations. A family friend once wrote a poem about the Bay and Grandpa Burke (name to be determined!) showed it to Maddox today. Mom read it to him and below are the words:
Maddox Bay
There’s a little place of Heaven I know
that’s located over Arkansas way.
It’s found in the White River Basin;
it’s a place called Maddox Bay.
Through travels often take me far,
in my mind I can always recall;
that little brown rustic cottage
that beckons me with its call.
The quiet, peaceful time I spend there
is like a savior to my soul.
It redeems my falling spirit
as life’s burdens take their toll.
And often in the wee hours of the morning
when the darkness turns to day,
I can fish or hunt the wildlife;
and all my problems fade away.
And I relish the total solitude
or being with friends whom I care;
that know times are special there,
the restful hours that we share.
I thank God for all the blessings,
that He gives me in every way;
and somehow I feel I’m closest to Him,
when at His gift called Maddox Bay.
